The Ford Motor Company has announced that it has started reviewing its revival strategy to face the sharply declining automobile sales of the last three months as well as the severe economic crisis shaking the planet.

The sale of Swedish automaker Volvo is one of the various scenarios the American manufacturer is studying. Volvo is a luxury brand that is world-renowned for the safety of its products.

Ford representatives said the decision will be made in the next few months. Ford will however continue working with Volvo, but will allow the Swedish manufacturer more leeway during the reorganization process.

Ford is established in Dearborn, Michigan. The company manufactures automotive vehicles in over 200 markets across six continents. With 90 assembly plants worldwide and 224,000 employees, Ford owns the following car and truck brands: Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, Mazda and Volvo.
