Follow Ontario's new rules of the road - answer calls, have text messages read aloud and select music, all with simple voice commands
Press release

Expecting an important call from the kids? An urgent text message from your significant other? Or maybe you desperately need to hear your favourite tune to unwind after a long day at work. As of October 26th it will be illegal in Ontario to drive with cell phone or entertainment device in hand, but with Ford SYNC™ you can stay connected in your vehicle while keeping your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road.

SYNC is a factory-installed, in-vehicle communications and entertainment system designed to change the way consumers use mobile phones and digital media players in their vehicles.

· SYNC will locate your phone, anywhere in the vehicle, and answer a call with either a simple voice command or the touch of a button on your steering wheel.

· It will convert text messages from your phone to audio and read it aloud – including translation of such commonly used text message expressions as "LOL" (laugh out loud).

· To make a call, simply touch the phone button on your steering wheel, say the name of the individual or business, and SYNC will automatically connect you with the number listed in your mobile phone's contact list.

· Browse the music collection on your digital media player, mobile phone or USB drive by genre, album, artist and song title using voice commands.

Ford has also taken the SYNC technology one step further with the addition of 911 Assist™. Now, if you are involved in a collision that causes your airbags to deploy, SYNC puts you directly in touch with a 911 operator – all hands free and at no extra cost.
