Mercedes-Benz has given us a present just before the weekend, revealing the first images and specs of the redesigned 2012 C63 AMG, to be officially unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show.
AMG is synonymous with performance, and the C63 is certainly no exception. Unchanged, its 6.2-litre, direct injection V8 churns out a diabolical 451 hp and 443 ft-lb of torque. A high-performance AMG kit is also available, adding 30 extra ponies and bringing the top speed up to 280 km/h.
The machine features a new, 7-speed SPEEDSHIFT MCT automatic transmission that will improve fuel efficiency by an estimated 10%.The car’s cabin has also been revamped. It boasts an original dash featuring a 5.8-inch screen, a new multi-purpose steering wheel and two-tone leather seats.
Outside, a new grille graces the C63’s front end, accompanied by a new bumper, a redesigned hood and LED daytime running lights. The back has inherited DEL tail lamps and a remodelled spoiler. Revamped 18-inch wheels complete the look.
The C63 AMG will hit dealerships sometime this summer.
