GM announced the recall of 8,356 2010 Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain SUVs. Apparently, on some of these vehicles the software in the Integrated Center Stack can deactivate the heating, air conditioning, defroster, audio controls and panel illumination.
Driving without these systems can increase the risk of an accident causing material damage, injuries or even death, according to Transport Canada.
Owners of the recalled vehicles will receive a notice in January, and dealers will replace the malfunctioning console free of charge.
