Mitsubishi has signed a protocol agreement with Iceland's Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism regarding the testing of the i MiEV, a small, electric, 5-door car.

Very eco-oriented, Iceland has taken measures to reduce its dependency on fossil fuels. Virtually all electric energy produced in the country is hydroelectric or geothermal in nature. The agreement with Mitsubishi ties in with this policy.

The i MiEV is currently being tested in Japan, and it will be launched in New Zealand shortly. Mitsubishi plans on commercializing the vehicle sometime in 2009.
