Inspired by the Bristol 400 Series and the Frazer Nash BMW 328, Morgan’s new four-passenger coupe concept is a demonstration of a vehicle developed with efficiency and rationalisation in mind.

According to Morgan, the EvaGT is a revolution for a company that’s been making the same model for 50 years.

The EvaGT uses a modified version of the Morgan Aero SuperSports’ bonded aluminum chassis, which helps keep weight down but still provides rigidity. The design and manufacture of the car uses computer technology, but the parts well then be hand-finished.

Mechanical features include rear-wheel drive, a four-wheel independent suspension, a BMW-sourced turbocharged 3,0-litre inline six that develops 306 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque as well as a choice of 6-speed manual or automatic transmissions.

Morgan claims a curb weight of 2,755 pounds or 1,250 kilograms, a 0-100 km/h time of 4.5 seconds and a top speed of 273 km/h, or 170 mph. The EvaGT would also deliver a fuel economy average of 7.06 L/100 km, or 40 mpg (33 US mpg).

The Morgan EvaGT will be shown to the public for the first time at the 60th Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, on August 15th.

Morgan will already be taking orders worldwide, as they are planning to start building a limited run of 100 cars by mid-2012.
