Nissan today announced an immediate $30,000 cash donation to the Red Cross to assist with earthquake relief efforts in Haiti. The cash donation is part of a multi-faceted relief program by Nissan in the Americas.

"Recovery in Haiti will be very difficult and will take years to accomplish after a disaster of this magnitude,” said Scott Becker, senior vice president, Administration and Finance, Nissan North America. “We want to do our part immediately and in the future to help those affected by the earthquake in a time of critical need."

Relief efforts from Nissan operations in the Americas include:
  •  A $25,000 cash donation from Nissan North America
  •  A $5,000 cash donation from Nissan Canada, Inc.
  •  Dollar-for-dollar gift matching for first $25,000 in employee donations for a combined employee-company contribution of up to $50,000
  •  $52,000 to Habitat for Humanity International to construct 13 houses in Haiti as rebuilding programs get under way.
Nissan has a long history of responding to humanitarian needs and disaster relief through organizations that include the American Red Cross, Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity and Second Harvest Food Bank.
