Tesla has promised us a revolutionary car to say the least. Some details are more intriguing than others, and only a test drive or additional pictures will prove if there's any truth to them.

Tesla says that the Model S can accommodate up to seven passengers. Where, exactly? The cabin features five conventional seats just like any mid-size sedan, two in front and three in back. All right so far, but the simple and time-honoured tradition of ocular observation reveals the location of the two other seats: unknown.

Tesla states that the car contains two foldaway seats facing backwards in the cargo area. As we're dealing with a sedan with a clearly defined trunk and unless Tesla unveils a family version, one cannot logically imagine that these two seats can accommodate a normally shaped human being. Tesla indeed lets a certain amount of doubt hang over the matter.

The sales price is equally astonishing. How did the automaker manage to produce a brand-new sedan priced below $60,000 US when its Roadster goes for a whopping $100,000 US? What's more, the latter is largely derived from the Lotus Elise and only boasts a quarter of the equipment promised by the sedan.

Add the fact of Tesla's recent financial difficulties and the Model S seems almost too good to be true. Let's just say I can't wait to hold the keys in my hand and finally know if Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny really do exist.
