GM public relations agent Robyn Henderson has confirmed that production of the Cadillac SRX Turbo will cease, authenticating the constant rumours that have been circulation on the Internet for the past few months. That means the SUV will only be powered by the 3.0-litre V6 generating 265 hp and 223 ft-lb of torque in the future.
According to Henderson, over 90% of the units sold were equipped with the 3.0-litre mill. In addition, the turbo variant wasn’t known for its fuel efficiency and was openly criticized by automotive journalists for its consumption rating of 15.6 and 10.6 L / 100 km, in town and on the highway, respectively.
Despite the withdrawal of the turbo variant, sales of the luxury SUV continue to flourish, the SRX having gained a bigger market share in the US than the BMW X3, Audi Q5 and Mercedes-Benz GLK.
