The man you see in this picture, Bob Ferry, a 51-year-old machinist, actually built a replica of a 1906 Oldsmobile Model B Runabout using nothing but books.
Given that Bob has the right amount of time on his hands and evidently lots of skill, his finished Model B Runabout is surprisingly well built.
Through Google Books, Bob found old magazines such as issues of Popular Science and Popular Mechanics as well as books like Harper's gasoline engine book. In total, he downloaded over a hundred Google Books to his iPad. Then, he got to work.
These publications contained all the desired details on the original, and with the information in hand, he created this stunning replica.
Good on you Bob.
Even after 25 years of harbouring specs on the Ecto-1, I'm sure my project wouldn't turn out anywhere as well as Bobby's Olds.
