Scheduled to arrive on the market this spring, the all-new Kia Optima made an appearance at the 2011 Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto, prompting the company to announce pricing and equipment.

The base LX model with a six-speed manual transmission starts at $21,995. Powered by a 2.4-litre GDI four-cylinder engine that produces 200 horsepower, it comes standard with high-performance dampers, dual exhaust with chrome tips and 16-inch alloy wheels, among other features.

When customers select the six-speed automatic, extras like a power-adjustable driver's seat and Active Eco switch for optimal fuel efficient driving become available.

At $26,695, the Optima EX uses the same engine as the LX. The autobox is standard along with 17-inch wheels, rain-sensing wipers and half chrome outside door handles.

Owners will also enjoy a UVO infotainment system, push-button start with smart key, dual-zone automatic climate control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, an eight-way power driver's seat, an illuminated glove box and rear reading lamps.

The range-topping SX is priced at $33,695 and, as the sportier Optima, it benefits from a 274-horsepower, 2.0-litre turbocharged engine. The model also stands out with a unique front grille design, a rear lip spoiler, sculpted side sills, black front brake callipers and 18-inch black machined finish wheels. Ventilated, cooled seats, unique displays, paddle shifters, metal pedals and lighted metal door scuff plates further enhance the SX experience.

As for fuel consumption, the 2.4L engine posts 8.7/5.7 L/100km (city/highway), while the 2.0L turbo promises 9.2/5.8 L/100km, according to Kia. The company announced that a hybrid variant is on the way as well.

The 2011 Canadian International Auto Show runs from February 18 to 27 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
