Toyota Canada emitted a voluntary recall on 12,600 2011 Siennas shortly before November 2010 to replace a stop lamp switch bracket that can be deformed by the driver’s foot during the use of the parking brake.

Depending on the severity of the deformation, the stop lamp could permanently stay on. In the worst-case scenario, the brakes could remain engaged, resulting in drag, premature wear and loss of braking efficiency if the issue is not addressed. Other than the lamps remaining on, noise and vibrations from the brakes are signs that the Sienna in question is affected by this recall.

Owners of these vehicles will receive a letter advising them of the existence of the recall, with instructions on how to proceed if they detect any of these symptoms. In early 2011, owners will receive a second notification as soon as the replacement parts will be available, asking them to make an appointment at a Toyota dealership to have the problem repaired free of charge.
