Automotive News reported a few days ago that General Motors was planning to add a third electric vehicle to its lineup (after the Chevrolet Volt and Spark EV). According to sources close to the matter, this new model would be based on the next-generation Chevrolet Sonic and offer an estimated range of 320 kilometres.
Production of the new, gasoline-powered Sonic is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2016, while the Sonic EV should enter production at about the same time or in the first quarter of 2017.
GM did not confirm these reports. The automaker may decide to simply replace the Spark EV and extend its range.
