A survey of 314,000 car owners by Consumer Reports identified Chevrolet Volt customers as the most satisfied in the entire industry, with 93% of them saying they would definitely buy it again.
Tied for a close second place at 91% is a pair of sports cars, namely the Dodge Challenger and Porsche 911.
As Consumer Reports points out, however, early adopters of a new technology tend to be more enthusiastic than typical buyers.
Moreover, the survey was conducted prior to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's (NHTSA) report of a Chevrolet Volt catching fire after a crash test. Plus, the car had been in showrooms for only a few months.
Overall, 27 models earned a top satisfaction rating (a minimum of 80% of respondents would definitely buy the car again). These include 12 sporty cars or convertibles as well as nine hybrids or diesels.
Three vehicles failed to crack the 50% mark: the Chevrolet Aveo (37%), Toyota Matrix AWD (43%), and Chevrolet Colorado (47%).
