SPEED.com has confirmed the signing of Andretti Autosport's IndyCar driver, Marco Andretti by Starworks Motorsports for the Rolex 24.

Starworks' boss Peter Baron was left with a whole in his driver line-up when Tony Kanaan and EJ Viso's sponsorship deal fell through.

"He's a talented kid that should keep the car out of trouble and keep it running up front," Baron told SPEED.com. "With him, Michael Valiante and Ryan Hunter-Reay [the drivers called for back-up], they should be able to peddle it pretty good."

Andretti may have a handful of ALMS starts to his credit, but he has no previous experience of Grand-Am let Daytona Prototype racing. Still, the organizers have given him the green light to take part in the event, alongside teammates Michael Valiante, Ryan Hunter-Reay, Scott Mayer and Miguel Potolicchio, without having even turned a wheel in the car.

The news brings to three the total of Andretti drivers racing in the Rolex 24, the father and son duo of John and Jarett Andretti being already entered in the GT category.
