In order to reduce the number of accidents involving younger drivers, the zero alcohol rule is now in effect for drivers of age 21 and younger.
Young drivers that get pulled over with a blood-alcohol level equal to or under 80 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood (0.08) will get their license revoked for 90 days. If they are convicted, four demerit points will be added to their driving record, and they will be required to pay a fine of $300 to $600 (plus administration fees).
If a driver of age 21 or less gets pulled over with a blood-alcohol level of over 0.08, they could be prosecuted under the Criminal Code. Those who get convicted will be subject to other measures and penalties.
