From DTM press release
Together with the manufacturers involved in DTM – Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz – the organisers at the Nürburgring and the sponsors, the ITR e.V. board opted for doing without shifting the date for the DTM meeting at the Nürburgring and without adding an additional event to the calendar. The potential new date was the weekend from 17th to 19th July, 2015, that had become available due to the cancellation of the German Formula 1 Grand Prix that was supposed to be held on this weekend. Hans Werner Aufrecht, Chairman of DTM rights holder and promoter ITR e.V. explained why the idea was finally turned down. “Basically, the date in July is perfect for a motor-racing event and discussing about a date shift or an additional event was the right approach. In the end, however, the additional costs as well as the major organisational and logistic challenges that would have been caused by the shift spoke against making this move. The discussion is history, now, and we are looking forward to the DTM meeting held at the Nürburgring in September with a lot of pleasant anticipation.”
