According to sources in Europe, the new Toyota LMP1 hybrid car is about to be track tested for the first time soon in preparation for the 2012 World Endurance Championship.

Italiaracing.net writes that the shakedown of the Toyota is expected to take place next week at the Paul Ricard HTTT Le Castellet circuit in Southern France.

The Italian web site says that the first track test was originally scheduled for the end of January but the plan has been changed, although this has not been confirmed by the team.

A spokeperson of the car manufacturer just confirmed us that the shakedown was scheduled for Friday January 13.

The Paul Ricard HTTT circuit was the base of the Toyota Formula 1 team when the Japanese car manufacturer was involved in Grand Prix racing.

Toyota has confirmed three drivers to this date: Alex Wurz, Nicolas Lapierre and Kazuki Nakajima. All three have apparently spent a lot of time in the Toyota Motorsport high tech driving simulator in Cologne, Germany.

The new hybrid LMP1 car will be entered in selected World Endurance Championship races, including the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans.
