Alexander Rossi takes win in race 2 at Paul Ricard, as Robert Wickens saw his championship advantage reduced to two points after the Canadian suffered a puncture.
Jean-Eric Vergne, who was dominant all the week-end in France, already took win in race 1, and he set the pole position for race 2 ahead of Alexander Rossi. But it was the American who took the lead at the start, to eventually take win at the end of the race in front of Daniel Ricciardo and Jean-Eric Vergne.
But Vergne was the winner of the day, as he now stands only two points behind championship leader Robert Wickens, after both men were separated by 34 points before this week end. Wickens, who started from 7th place, suffered a puncture after he was hit by another car at the start, which put him off the track later on. After he stopped to change his tires, Wickens was back on track in the back of the field.
“Well it’s just a shame I was hit today and got the puncture”, stated Wickens after Sunday’s result. I’d been able to get up into fourth after a great start from seventh. We were looking good for another strong points finish but at the end of the day I’m still leading the championship going into the final round next month so it’s not all bad!”
