Rumours abound as to the composition of the teams in 2010. Far from official, here is a team-by-team analysis of the transfer situation going into the Japanese Grand Prix in Suzuka.

Brawn GP
Jenson Button should be staying on next season, possibly with the number 1…

Rubens Barrichello is not sure if he'll stay, and he admitted as much in Singapore.
Nico Rosberg is leaving Williams and should sign on, supported by Mercedes-Benz, set to become the team's main shareholder.

Red Bull Racing
Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber have been confirmed for the 2010 season.

If the FIA gives the German manufacturer the green light to provide engines to four teams, the Mercedes-Benz engine will replace the Renault engine in the Austrian cars.

Ferrari
Felipe Massa will be back in 2010.

Fernando Alonso should be confirmed this week as Kimi Räikkönnen's replacement.
Giancarlo Fisichella will be the reserve driver, with the possibility of being loaned to another team.

McLaren
Lewis Hamilton is under contract until the end of 2012.

Kimi Räikkönen should be driving the other car, replacing Finnish compatriot Heikki Kovalainen.

Renault
Robert Kubica should be replacing Fernando Alonso as first driver.

Romain Grosjean, who replaced Nelson Piquet Jr. during the season, will drive the second car.

Williams
Nick Heidfeld could be replacing Nico Rosberg.

Nico Hulkenberg, GP2 champion and test driver for the team until now, should start his career as race driver.
Williams should be running the Renault engine and thus be dropping Kazuki Nakajima, a Toyota requirement.

Toyota

Jarno Trulli and Timo Glock will not be returning for the 2010 season.

No longer with Williams, Kazuki Nakajima of Japan could be driving one of the two cars. There are still many doubts about the future of this team.

Sauber-Qadbak
Recently bought by Qadbak Investments, the team has not yet unveiled its roster.

Ferrari should be powering the Sauber car.

Force India
Adrian Sutil and Vitantonio Liuzzi are staying on as race drivers next year.

Karun Chandhok of India could join the team as a reserve driver in a bid to seduce Indian sponsors.

Toro Rosso
Sébastien Buemi and Jaime Alguersuari, who replaced Sébastien Bourdais this summer, will stay on for 2010.

USF1
The team is aiming to be all-American, will it succeed?
F3, A1GP and Atlantic driver, the name Jonathan Summerton has often been cited.
Jacques Villeneuve, Alexander Würz and Franck Montagny have all been in contact.
