Italian tire manufacturer Pirelli have tweaked the markings on their tires in time for the Malaysian Grand Prix held at the Sepang circuit in Kuala Lumpur.
For the next two races in Malaysia and China they have added a gold stripe to the sidewall of the soft tires. These will continue to feature yellow lettering.
Following complaints in Australia that it was difficult to pick out the silver and yellow colours used for the hard and soft tires, Pirelli decided to change the markings in what is said to be an interim solution.
Paul Hembery, Pirelli's director of motorsport said that a more permanent change to the tires would be made from the start of the European season.
The Formula 1 teams will have the option of running experimental tires on Friday in Malaysia. Each team will receive two sets of the tires, which they can use during Friday’s sessions only. These tires will have no markings.
