The bright yellow and black livery of the new Renault R30 Formula 1 car of Robert Kubica and Vitaly Petrov may have stunned some people, but it is very similar to the paint scheme of the 1977 Renault.
The Renault RS01 of Jean-Pierre Jabouille was painted yellow and black, the official colours of the Régie Renault back in 1978 when Renault Sport was based in Viry-Châtillon near Paris.
The famed V-6 turbocharged engine, fed by a single turbo and which produced the power of 550 horsepower, powered the car.
The livery of the new Renault is very similar to the original paint scheme, although the yellow is a bit different.
The new R30 is motored by Renault’s normally aspirated 2.4-litre V-8 that boasts some 800 horsepower.
The (temporary?) absence of a title sponsor greatly facilitated the decision to decorate the F1 car with the traditional colours of Renault.
