Renault F1 driver Robert Kubica has been discharged from the Santa Corona hospital where he was recovering from a rally accident since early February.

"Robert Kubica is no longer at Santa Corona Hospital in Pietra Ligure. His condition is good and the driver will be able to begin a new rehabilitation phase outside the hospital,” said local news service IVG.it.

"He will carry on being monitored by the Santa Corona doctors who had him in their care through scheduled appointments."

Kubica spent a total of 11 weeks at Santa Corona where he was operated on several occasions to reconstruct his right hand, but also for severe fractures on his right leg and shoulder.

The Pole said earlier this week that he would head home, in Monaco, as soon as he left the hospital. He will then more to Dr Riccardo Ceccarelli’s facilities in Italy to start a deep rehabilitation programme.
