Autosport.com announced that Candian rising-star Robert Wickens will build on his straight-line testing experience by talking the wheel of the MVR-02, the Marussia F1 car, during free practice at the next Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
"I'm thrilled to be given the opportunity to test with the team in a race weekend context and at a track like Abu Dhabi," said Wickens. "This year just keeps getting better and better and I can't thank Marussia enough for their continued support.
Earlier this year, Wickens won the Formula Renault 3.5 title, he also did some straight-line testing for Marussia at Vairano.
Jean-Éric Vergne, Wickens' Carlin team-mate and runner-up, is battling for a F1 seat of his own. He will be in action in Abu Dhabi too, and Brazil as well. The young Red Bull-backed driver is auditioning for Toro Rosso.
Vergne might beat Wickens to an F1, but since the Canadian finished ahead in FR3.5 standings, he's the one who will get the chance to test for Lotus Renault GP at the upcoming young driver test, also held at Abu Dhabi, November 15-17.
