The Red Bull Racing team captured its first World Title in Sao Paolo, Brazil on Sunday, with drivers Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber finishing one-two in the race.

The roots of the team can be traced as far back as the late 1980s.

In 1988, Paul Stewart and his father Jackie, the three-time World Champion, founded Paul Stewart Racing to contest the lower European formula car series, such as the Lotus Vauxhall Euroseries and British Formula 3 Championship.

The team graduated to F1 in 1996 with Ford as a major backer. The team captured only one win, with Johnny Herbert taking first place at the Nurburgring in 1999.

Ford bought the team out in June 1999 before creating the foundations for the new Jaguar F1 team.

The “Jag” team was never really successful and serious financial problems at Ford left the American automaker with no choice than to sell it to Dietrich Mateschitz and Red Bull at the end of 2004.

Success came to Red Bull when Adrian Newey replaced the original technical director Günther Steiner.

In 2005, the young team scored 34 world championship points.

The first podium was achieved the following year and Sebastian Vettel scored the team’s maiden victory in China. That was just one year ago.

This season, with one Grand Prix to go, the Red Bull Racing team just clinched the World Constructors' Title. Not a bad progression!
