Bad news keep coming at Saab, which seems to be unable to get financially back on track despite commendable efforts by its parent company Swedish Automobile (formerly known as Spyker Cars).

Now, we've learned that Saab employees were told via email this Thursday morning that no money will hit their accounts by June's end.

Gunilla Gustavs, who spoke on behalf of the manufacturer, said “it is regrettable to have to notify staff on the day before midsummer.” As to whether or not Saab will send out paychecks again, he admitted that “it is impossible to make any sort of forecast”.

This latest setback comes at a time when Saab is racing to seal payment agreements with its suppliers. On Monday, chairman Victor Muller gave them an ultimatum: agree by Tuesday to accept ten percent on past due payments, with the balance payable in September, and resume shipping the necessary parts to build Saab vehicles.

Failure to meet payroll is never a good omen. Unfortunately, all signs point to the automaker's imminent demise, which is really sad because the new Saab projects from the post-GM era were quite intriguing.
