The all-new Ford GT is the fastest Ford production vehicle on the track ever, achieving a maximum speed of 216 mph (347 km/h).
More than that, with a lap time of 2:09.8 minutes at Calabogie Motorsports Park in Ontario, it even beat some renowned supercars like the McLaren 675LT (2:10.8) and Ferrari 458 Speciale (2:12.9).
How did it pull that off? Well, you can start with the Ford GT’s new 3.5L V6 rated at 647 horsepower and 550 lb-ft of torque—90% of which comes in from 3,500 rpm. This is the highest output of any EcoBoost production engine to date.
The company also points to the car’s strong power-to-weight ratio coupled with the most advanced active suspension system in the segment.
In related news, Ford Performance has gone well beyond the traditional online build site, providing customers with a unique order kit to assist them in personalizing their new Ford GT which, by the way, entered production at the new Multimatic plant in Markham, Ontario last December.
