Robin Frijns and Arthur Pic take win in both races presented on the brand new Moscow Speedway this week-end.

In the first round, championship leader Robin Frijns started from pole position. The Dutch pulled away in front in the first laps of the race, but his pace dropped off, allowing Marco Sorensen to catch him at mid race. The Dane made an attempt to take the lead but went wide and finally dropped down to fifth position, while Jules Bianchi emerged in second position. Despite two consecutive restarts, Frijns was able ton maintain his lead, and secured victory.

On Sunday, it was Jules Bianchi’s turn to start from pole. But, as he tried to defend his position against Marco Sorensen in the first corner, the Frenchman had a contact with his rival, who was then hit by another car. Arthur Pic inherited the lead, and pulled away in front after the safety car period. The Frenchman claimed his maiden win in Formula Renault 3.5 ahead of Walter Grubmuller and Kevin Korjus. Robin Frijns still leads provisional championship but the Fortec driver failed to take advantage from his main rivals’ retirements, after a bad pit stop then a spin in the last laps which dropped him down in the back of the field.
