On the occasion of the worldwide preview of the new Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, the president and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini, Stephan Winkelmann, announced that the Sesto Elemento will go into production.

If you remember correctly, Auto123.com reported a while ago that a California dealer was already taking orders, signalling that the car would indeed come to market.

Only 20 units of the Sesto Elemento supercar will be produced, with deliveries starting in early 2013. Don't expect to see the 3.44 million dollars gorgeous Italian on the road, however; it will be destined only for track use.

The Sesto Elemento (meaning ''Sixth Element'') uses carbon fibre for the chassis, roof, floor, body panels, main suspension links and wheels, dropping its overall weight to just 999 kilos (2,202 pounds). The only other Lamborghini to weigh less than 1,000 kilos was the 1986 Countach Evoluzione.

Add a 570-horsepower V10 engine with all-wheel drive and you get 0-100 km/h accelerations in 2.5 seconds, a mind-blowing weight-to-power ratio of 1.75 kg/hp, and handling performance that leaves speechless.
