The highlight of this year’s Porsche Parade in Savannah, Georgia, organized by the Porsche Club of America, will be the giveaway of a restored vintage Porsche 911.
Thanks to the company’s “Revive the Passion” project, a 1973 US-spec 911 T Coupe has been thoroughly overhauled, and one lucky PCA member will win the car.
Quite a prize, since the car was restored by the experts at Porsche Classic at Stuttgart—where that 911 was originally assembled some 38 years ago. Usually, the traditional PCA raffle involves a new car, but the idea of offering a vintage machine was born back in 2010. Once a suitable car—make that an awful car—was located in L.A., it was sent to Germany for its second chance at life.
At first, it wasn’t pretty; the car hadn’t been rolling for quite some time, its paint was peeled off, numerous parts weren’t original, and they even found remains of bird’s nests in the underbody. The history of the vehicle is unknown.
The 911 T Coupe features a 2.4-litre flat-six that develops 140 horsepower. The car’s top speed at rated at 127 mph (205 km/h). It was repainted in a classic colour combination of Silver Metallic on the outside and black on the inside. The fact that Porsche Classic performed the restoration will likely make the car highly valuable.
