UPM, a Finnish company specialized in the bio and forest industries, will unveil a unique concept car using various wood-based biomaterials at the Geneva Auto Show in March. The Biofore is 95% recyclable, and runs on UPM BioVerno wood-based renewable diesel.
Since 2011, 50 engineers have teamed up and logged 30,000 hours of work to complete this project, which is street-legal by the way.
UPM wants to showcase the near-infinite possibilities of wood-based biomaterials as a replacement for plastic and other components. The use of wood also makes the Biofore 15% lighter than a conventional automobile of similar size.
