Luiz Razia brings team Arden back to victory after he won the opening round of the 2012 GP2 championship at Sepang.

Razia, who started from second position on the grid, moved up to the lead at the start ahead of poleman Davide Valsecchi (DAMS), then pulled away in front. Valsecchi finally takes second position at the checkered flag, while Max Chilton (Carlin) confirms his qualifying pace by claiming third position.

There was a tough battle for 8th place – which gives the pole position for race 2 thanks to reverse grid regulation –, between both Lotus GP drivers, James Calado and Esteban Gutierrez (who started only from 16th place on the grid) and Caterham driver Giedo van der Garde.

Finally, Gutierrez takes 7th place ahead of Calado (who will start from pole on Sunday) and van der Garde, who will start from 9th place.

10th position was taken by the unexpected Fabrizio Crestani, who gives the last point to his team Lazarus, which was making its GP2 debuts this weekend.
