Jon Fogarty has made one more step in the direction of a much needed luck turning victory in Homestead-Miami, on Friday.

Fogarty completed a lap of 1:13.655 at a speed of 112.416 mph in Miami. The Gainsco No. 99 car co-driven by Alex Gurney will start ahead of the No. 01 Telmex BMW/Riley of Memo Rojas and Scott Pruett.

The top-7 DP cars were separated by less than one second with the top-6 featuring different engine-chassis combinations.

Rojas is looking at a fifth consecutive victory in the series. He ran a lap of 1:13.838 (112.137 mph). Fogarty has not been successful in Homestead recently and hopes this pole position will act as a turning point.

The No. 01 car was followed by Paul Edwards in a Chevrolet (112.061 mph), Ricky Taylor in the No. 10 Chevrolet/Dallara (111.801 mph) and Brian Frisselle in the No. 77 Ford/Dallara (111.635 mph).

In GT, Jan Magnussen gave Chevrolet and Stevenson Motorsports their first GT pole position. The Dane ran a lap of 1:19.772 (103.796 mph) in the No. 57 Camaro co-driven by Robin Liddell.

Boris Said qualified second in his brand-new No. 31 Corvette with a lap of 1:20.301 (103.112 mph).

The race is scheduled for noon, this Saturday.
