Formula 1 veteran Rubens Barrichello failed to add yet another victory to his Granja Viana 500 kart event this week-end, near Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Barrichello, who shared the wheel with IndyCar star Tony Kanaan, track owner Felipe Giaffone and countryman Antonio Pizzonia, had to settled for 5th place finish after a series of problems slowed him down in the race.

Polesitter Alexandre Ruiz did not get more lucky with a 20th position, 12 laps down, while Christian Fittipaldi and Victor Meira looked set for victory until they had to retire with one hour to go.

The event was won by young Formula 3 reigning champion Yann Cunha alongside series rival Lu Boesel and kart regular Luiz Cordeiro Filho. Second were ex-Formula 1 drivers Nelson Piquet Jr. and Christian Fittipaldi - who took the wheel of the second kart of the team after retiring from the race with Meira.

Next year's event will change location to a city some 700km from the capital, in Beto Carrero World, a thematic park of the Santa Catarina Estate.
