The world's best-selling hybrid is about to get a well-deserved makeover. The new Prius is powered by a hybrid powertrain that is 90% new, according to Toyota. Combined fuel economy now averages 3.8 L/100 km, a 7% improvement, while developing 22% more power.

Speaking of which, a new 1.8-litre engine with an Atkinson cycle replaces the old 1.5-litre unit, and combined output is up to 134 ponies. The car's aerodynamic drag is lowered to 0.25, while the cabin is more spacious and hosts more standard features.

The 2010 Lexus HS 250h is a brand-new model in the luxury brand's line-up. The four-door HS sports a 2.4-litre engine that runs an Atkinson cycle and together with the battery pack, combined output is 187 horsepower. If this sounds like Toyota Camry specs, it's because they share the same powertrain.

A little bigger than the IS sedan, the HS isn't spared in regards to luxury features, just like the rest of the Lexus line-up, including leather, sunroof, premium audio system, Bluetooth, USB port and optional navigation.

The 2010 Prius will turn up in dealers this spring, while the 2010 HS 250h will be on sale this summer.
