Press release
Source: La Ville de Montréal Roger Plamondon, chair of the board of the Public Bike System Company, and Alain Ayotte, the company’s president, were pleased to announce that the one millionth BIXI bike trip has been made. The two men were accompanied by Gérald Tremblay, mayor of Montréal, and André Lavallée, chair of the City of Montréal’s executive committee and member responsible for the transportation plan, as well as the user who reached this important milestone in the young company’s history.
The one millionth trip was made by Montrealer Van Phuc Anh Phung, a BIXI member since August 28, 2009. In honour of this event, the Public Bike System Company presented Mr. Phung with an annual BIXI subscription. “One million trips before the end of the first BIXI season – what better proof that bike sharing has become a part of the daily lives of many Montrealers. Since this is the first system of this size in North America, we are delighted by its instant popularity and the enthusiastic acceptance of users,” declared Mr. Plamondon. BIXI thanks all its users for making this achievement possible in its first year of service. Congratulations to Mr. Phung!
