French car manufacturer Citroen has released to the medias the first and very short video of its fully electric Survolt race car in a test session. Too bad the video is so short...

Following its launch at the Geneva auto show, Citroen developed a racing version of the Survolt. It was taken to the track for the first time a few days ago in great privacy. It will be officially launched at 1:30pm this Saturday in Le Mans, France.

Vanica Ickx, an experienced driver who races in the Le Mans Series and who just competed in the famed 24 Hours of Le Mans, conducted the first tests.

According to the information released by Citroen, the racing version of the Survolt is powered by two electric engines that can produce the equivalent of 300 horsepower between zero and 5000 rpm. The car is capable to reach a top speed of 260 km/h (160 mph).

It is interesting to note that several small, private car builders, such as Yves Courage are currently working on the development of fully electric race cars to be entered in endurance events and even the 24 Hours of Le Mans in a not too distant future, hopefully.
