Honda / Acura News:

By a Canadian Premiere, Honda officially steps foot into the pickup world by introducing the Ridgeline. Only offered in a double cab configuration, this truck will be sold in three different trim levels: LX, EX and EX-L NAVI. Amongst its unusual characteristics, the Ridgeline has a real locking luggage compartment under the bed that can hold up to three golf bags. The only engine available is the 3.5L V6 found in the Pilot and Odyssey. The Ridgeline is a unitized body as opposed to a body-on-frame like most trucks. Even if it is a "fake" truck, it will fill most people's needs for those looking for a reliable, versatile easy-to-live-with everyday truck. Only available with a 5-speed automatic transmission, the Ridgeline will arrive in dealerships by the month of April. Its price range should be between $35,000 and $45,000.

The second piece of news on the Honda side, but not the least, is the new Accord Hybrid. For the moment, it is the only midsize sedan with this type of powertrain. Equipped with a 3.0L V6 and an electric motor / generator, it offers 255 hp, 15 hp more than the regular gas powered verison while consuming less fuel.

In the case of Acura, the only notable news concerns the flagship : the RL. Now offered with all-wheel drive traction, it adopts a 300 hp 3.5L i-VTEC V6 engine, a 5-speed automatic transmission with manual mode and an active torque distribution system, better known as Super Handling. Thanks to all these elements, the RL offers driving characteristics that are very contrary to the old version. Only available in one trim, it has all the necessary luxury features to take on the Germans. The $69,500 price tag may force potential buyers to consider other models, though.
