There is a possibility that Hyundai will launch a new subcompact SUV for the U.S. market in the medium term. This model would directly rival the likes of the Chevrolet Trax, Honda HR-V, Jeep Renegade, and Mazda CX-3, which are all part of a growing segment.
The Korean manufacturer has yet to confirm any of this information, however.
Hyundai Motor America president and CEO Dave Zuchowski told Edmunds that the vehicle would be based on the Veloster platform, although he rejected the idea of importing the Creta (sold in India and other countries) because it lacks flair and is too conservatively styled for American tastes.
"We have decided to wait a little bit longer to get the right vehicle," he said.
And so we wait, as well. What do you think a Hyundai subcompact SUV should look like? Fire your speculation!
