Franck Montagny and Stéphane Sarrazin’s Peugeot 908 HDI FAP claimed maiden win in Zhuhai, last round of the new Intercontinental Le Mans Cup.
Both factory-908 and both factory-R15 had a great fight in China, and Sarrazin took the lead ahead of Kristensen-McNish’s Audi with only half an hour to the finish, thanks to a good pit strategy from the French team. Peugeot took also the first ILMC title.
The sister car, driven by Sébastien Bourdais and Simon Pagenaud, was fighting for the lead until a contact between Bourdais and a GT2 car. As the GT remained stuck in the gravels, the Frenchman was able to join his pits in order to fix the back of the car, but the car eventually dropped down to fourth. The second R15, driven by Capello and Dumans, took 3rd.
Far behind, the OAK Racing Pescarolo-Judd, which was the only LMP2 at the start, took 5th place overall, just ahead of Porsche hybrid driven by Long and Bergmeister. Muller and Werner’s BMW M3 took GT2 win, and 7th overall.
