Tristan Vautier was able to stand his grounds against his Sam Schmidt Motorsports teammate Esteban Guerrieri to earn pole position for the Indy Lights race at Iowa Speedway.

The Frenchman  accomplished his feat with an average speed of 159.973 mph. In lap time, the gap between him and Guerrieri was just 0.09 seconds.

Victor Carbone secured a Schmidt 1-2-3 on the grid by going third fastest ahead of Andretti Autosport's Sebastian Saavedra, with David Ostella (Team Moore Racing) and Oli Webb (Schmidt) filling the third row.
