Chip Ganassi's Dario Franchitti earned his first pole of the 2013 IndyCar season for the upcoming round of the series, held in the streets of Long Beach.
Franchitti took advantage of his final flying lap to deliver a 1m07.2379s that was good enough to move over Ryan Hunter-Reay (Andretti Autosport) by 0.0555 seconds.
Hunter-Reay's time was still good enough to keep him in second place in front of Team Penske's Will Power and Takuma Sato (AJ Foyt Racing) who delivered another good performance.
Mike Conway (Rahal Letterman) ended-up in fifth while Helio Castroneves (Team Penske) was the last driver who managed to get in the Fast Six Shootout.
