For the second consecutive week-end, Will Power (Team Penske) has taken pole position, but this time in the streets of Baltimore, which host for the first time ever an IndyCar event.
The Australian clocked his fastest lap at 1m20.2447s. Barely 0.0791s quicker than Ganassi's Graham Rahal, who ended up second thanks to his best qualifying run of the season.
Power's teammate Ryan Briscoe will start third, ahead of current series' leader Dario Franchitti (Ganassi) who almost didn't make it in the final phase of qualifying after spinning on his last lap during the opening session.
KV's Takuma Sato, was penalised for triggering full-course yellows by spinning and stalling at the Turn 3 hairpin. He will start from the back of the grid.
Once again, Sebastien Bourdais was at ease with fifth for Dale Coyne Racing. Meanwhile, Canadians James Hinchcliffe (Newman-Haas) and Alex Tagliani (Sam Schmidt) will start respectively from the 17th and 21st spot.
