New Larger, More Powerful V6 and V8 Engines Produce Improved Fuel Economy Numbers
As reported by Nissan

MISSISSAUGA, Ontario –
Infiniti Canada announced pricing and official fuel economy estimates for its 2011 performance luxury sedans. On top of style, performance, luxury, attention to detail and technology, the new M37 and M56 models also offer improved fuel consumption estimates.

New in 2011, the rear-wheel-drive M37 and its 3.7-litre engine starts at $52,400 CAD, which is $3,100 less than the V6 model of 2010. Similarly, the new M56 and 5.6-litre engine is also offered as a rear-wheel-drive model and is priced $3,350 less than the 2010 V8.

The MSRP of the 330-hp 2011 M37 AWD is $54,600 CAD, $600 less than that of the 2010 V6. The base MSRP of the 420-hp M56 AWD is $68,700 CAD, $850 less than the previous V8 version. Both models benefit from new features, such as:
  • All-new exterior design
  • Seven-speed automatic transmission
  • Infiniti’s Drive Mode Selector
  • Power folding side mirrors
  • Front door handle courtesy lights
  • Active noise control
  • Rear-view monitor
  • Enhanced smart key memory (audio, navigation and climate control features)
The 2011 M sedans, Infiniti’s flagship products, not only offer better value and content, but also improved energy efficiency, saving up to 1.7 litre per 100 km compared to the 2010 M models.

The 2011 Infiniti M horsepower, torque, fuel economy figures, and increases compared to the previous generation models, are:

Highway MPG7.68.3 (-0.8)8.08.5 (-1.7)

"The all-new 2011 Infiniti M's powertrains offer both increased power and efficiency," said Ben Poore, vice president, Infiniti Business Unit. "Our V6 power is up 9% to 330 horsepower, while V8 power is up almost 30% to 420 horsepower and torque is increased 24% to 417 lb-ft -- while amazingly adding 4 mpg Highway for the M56 and 3 mpg Highway for the all-wheel drive M56x."

Multiple advanced technologies allow the new Infiniti M to provide these increases in power and torque while also improving fuel efficiency across all model offerings. The 3.7-iter V6 and all-new 5.6-liter V8 engine both utilize Continuously Variable Valve Timing Control System (CVTCS) to optimize both intake and exhaust valve timing. Variable Valve Event and Lift (VVEL) technology is also applied to the intake valves on both the V6 and V8 engines to improve performance, emissions and fuel efficiency.
