Uber drivers will soon have car insurance products tailor-made for them courtesy of Intact and BelairDirect (two divisions of Intact Financial Corporation), La Presse reports.
Details of the coverage remain undisclosed, but Intact’s vice president of Service and Distribution Louise Gagnon said in a press release that this innovative solution will help protect consumers by taking their constantly evolving needs into account. The company is also working closely with the government and law agencies to implement these new insurance products.
A while ago, the Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) urged Uber drivers to check their car insurance policies to see if their vehicle is covered when used for commercial purposes. Some insurers may indeed deny claims for anything other than personal use.
