DaimlerChrysler is a world leader when it comes to advanced diesel engine technology- especially in Europe. Now, some of their latest and greatest accomplishments are available to Canadian consumers with the new Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.0 Litre Diesel.

Boasting class leading highway fuel efficiency at nearly 35 MPG, the three-litre mill also generates more torque than it's competitors- with over 375 lb.-ft. on tap Towing characteristics are also enhanced.

The badge for the high-tech engine, available on Laredo, Limited and Overland 4x4 models, will read simply "3.0 Litre Diesel".

"The evolution of clean diesel technology represents a tremendous value and environmental opportunity for Canadian drivers by improving fuel economy and achieving low emissions levels," says Reid Bigland, President of DaimlerChrysler Canada. "With DaimlerChrysler's global leadership in clean diesel technology combined with our Dodge and Jeep products, we believe we can help expand the consumer popularity of diesel technology throughout Canada."

Drivers can expect an average fuel economy improvement of about 30 percent, and even more savings while towing- as diesel engines tend to not "feel" heavy loads as much as gas engines do.

Starting at $48,750, the Cherokee Diesel gives buyers heated leather seats, sunroof, climate control and satellite radio. $53,775 starts the bidding for a limited model, and the loaded Overland designated model comes in starting at $55,805- a premium of $1,725 over the HEMI equipped model.
