Nine-year-old girl Taybor Duncan has tragically lost her life in a karting accident in Grand Junction Motor Speedway, Colorado.

Being a father of two and a kart racer myself, I think it’s important to remember that karting remains a dangerous motorsport activity.

According to reports from local news outlets, Taybor Duncan from Aurora, Colorado was taking part in a morning practice session when she died following a collision with tail end of a flatbed trailer attached to an ATV maintenance vehicle.

The Sheriff’s Office said Duncan was driving over a hill and crashed into the vehicle, flipping her kart.

Taybor Duncan was a member of the Colorado Junior Karting Club, which was competing at the Grand Junction Motor Speedway with the track’s local club series. She also competed in the Rotax of the Rockies, Mile High Challenge Series, Racing the Rockies programs.

Hopefully tracks worldwide will review their “kart pick-up procedures” so accidents like this can be prevented.

Auto123.com would like to send our condolences to the Duncan family along with the entire Colorado karting community.
