Given the disaster and having assessed the situation with the Japanese ASN (JAF), the Organiser (Suzuka Motor Sport Club) and all the teams entered in the World Karting Championship, the gouverning body has decided to postpone the race to November 13, 2011.

The press release says: "The FIA and CIK feel very sorry for what is happening in Japan. The damages of the great earthquakes and the risks of contamination further to the incidents which the Fukushima nuclear plant had to face and is still facing lead the CIK-FIA, in agreement with the local ASN and Organiser, to apply the principle of precaution."

"The FIA and CIK, as well as all the competitors consulted, are determined to confirm the calendar entry of the Japanese round of the 2011 World Championship and Asia-Pacific KF2 Championship, the level of organisation of which has always been remarkable," added the text.

November 13 date is not overlapping with any other events already entered on the international calendar. Instead of opening the competition, Suzuka will have the honor of closing the 2011 season of the world championship.

Revised 2011 calendar of the CIK-FIA World Karting Championship:

June 12 - Germany - Wackersdorf
July 24 - Spain - Zuera
September 4 - Belgium - Genk
September 18 - Italy - Sarno
November 13 - Japan - Suzuka
