The Kia Soul made its official debut at the 2006 NAIAS in Detroit, where it made quite a splash. The strong reaction from journalists and the general public led the Korean automaker to go into production with this concept while keeping the original name.

Helping fans wait until the market introduction of the Soul, Kia decided to involve a partially-hidden model in this summer's Vans Warped Tour, a popular North American music festival.

Now, the first official pictures of the production Soul have been released, giving everyone a full sneak peak at this exciting crossover.

According to various sources, the Soul will be available with a choice of three 4-cylinder engines, starting with a 124-hp 1.6L. A 2.0L gasoline engine and a 1.6L diesel (Europe) will also be offered. Expect both manual and automatic transmissions.

The new Kia Soul is scheduled to arrive in dealerships sometime next year.
