Kia today unveiled a coupe-style hatchback with a hybrid powertrain at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. Called “provo,” it combines a 204-horsepower, 1.6L 4-cylinder engine with a 45-horsepower electric motor to drive the rear wheels through a 7-speed, dual-clutch transmission.

The compact provo stands 3.88 metres long, 1.77 metre wide, and 1.35 metre tall. It sports a muscular look thanks to 19” wheels and Kia’s signature Tiger Nose grille treatment linking straight into the Schreyer-inspired headlamp units that are made up of more than 850 tiny LEDs.
Inside this 2+2 concept, designers used paddle shifters behind the steering wheel to get rid of the floor-mounted lever and therefore free up space on the centre console. Carbon fibre trim beautifully complements the aluminum and Alcantara inserts.

Kia hails the provo as a road-legal racer. “It's an emotional and muscular car aimed at delivering pure fun and performance for today’s city-based enthusiast driver who longs for the curves of the open road,” says Gregory Guillaume, Chief Designer at Kia’s European styling base in Frankfurt. “This is entirely a car for European tastes and conditions.”
